My raw food diet

For the past one and a half years, I am having raw food for my diet. I will tell you the history which led me to this cool diet.

I was suffering from a sort of eczema on my toes for three or more years. I treated it with many, and all of them were allopathic treatments. One day, one of my friends advised me to try homoeopathic treatment and suggested one good homoeo doctor near to my locality. At that time, my problem had become so worse that I could not even walk steadily. Desperately, I consulted that homoeo doctor, and he promised me to get me recovered from my problem, but I have to strictly follow his directions. I was ready to agree for anything.

The doctor suggested me that he was not giving me any medicines right then. He told me that most of the skin problems occur just because of inappropriate diet, and the first thing to do is to prepare my body to accept the medicines. He asked me to follow a particular diet for some weeks.

Actually, it was not so easy to follow the diet he suggested. First day I had to clean my stomach with the help of castor oil and could have only plain water for that entire day. Next day I could have raw vegetables, vegetable soup and tender coconut water. On the third day I could have some cooked vegetables and a cup of plain rice. On the fourth day again I had to clean the stomach and the same routine to be repeated.

On the first week it was very difficult to follow the diet but on the thought of getting out of my skin decease, I strictly followed the same for the next three months as directed by the doctor. Then only he prescribed me some medicines for the next two months and suggested to have only vegetarian food during the period. And, to my best relief, I was out of my skin decease and it didn’t appear again.

I have told you that I was on a diet of vegetables and especially of raw vegetables during the course of the treatment. Earlier, I was a person who liked to have meat, fish, etc. At that time, I sometimes felt constipation and some sorts of food annoyed my digestive system. But when I was on raw food, I felt peace with my stomach, and I felt my body had become cooler. I am living in a tropical country, and when I felt the inner coolness, I liked it very much. So, even after the treatment, I decided to follow the diet of raw food.

I studied books written by the promoters of raw food, and their experiences with raw food diet, and for better I approached a Naturopathic Centre, situated at Varkala, near Trivandrum, Kerala, India.

The physicians there advised me for how to be able to live on raw food without losing energy and they suggested me a weekly diet with 90% of raw food. Thus for the past one and a half years, I am living on raw food, especially on raw vegetables and germinated seeds. For fresh vegetables, I started to nurture a small vegetable garden in my backyard.

Now I am having a cup of milk (the physicians advised me to have one glass of milk in the morning) and then some raw vegetables for breakfast; some salads 
with germinated seeds, sometimes with a cup of curd for lunch, and for dinner, fresh and dry fruits. And you know, I received a basket of fresh fruits from my girl friend as my birthday gift last year. I think I am having a royal life now, and as discovered by my best friends, my overall behavior itself has become softened after I started to follow this diet. I suggest everybody to follow the diet of raw food and feel the difference of living a cooler life in mind and body.
